Hawaiʻi Island Chef Challenge
Together Creating a Sustainable, Healthy and Innovative Island-Inspired Meal
Hawai'i Island chefs and Keiki partner together and utilize locally grown ingredients to create their winning meal. We visit and hear stories of our local farmers, ranchers, and chefs providing an opportunity to learn about the challenges and rewards of our agriculture, culture and the culinary arts.
This program presents educational opportunities on topics such as sustainability, community engagement and cultural practices in an entertaining and creative way. The finalists' meal is judged by world-renowned Chef Sam Choy, proprietor of several restaurants around the globe and author of over a dozen Island-inspired cookbooks. Chef Choy is a recipient of the James Beard Foundation Award and has been featured in several Food TV programs. Chef Choy has a longstanding commitment to using fresh and sustainable ingredients. It is an honor to have Chef Sam Choyʻs continued support of the Hawaiʻi Island Chef Challenge.
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to journey through the process of “farm-to-table”, to discover the history and dedication of local farmers and ranchers, and hear the journey to success from Hawai'i island chefs. Follow the challenge as chefs partner with Keiki of Hawai’i Island to apply their cooking expertise to create a collaborative, locally grown, award-winning meal. Join us as we host a refreshing way to educate and bring awareness to our Island culture, agriculture, and the culinary arts.
