The Commission’s purpose:

To develop an initial island-wide prioritized list of qualifying lands worthy of preservation and submit it to the mayor.

Priorities shall be listed on an island-wide rather than district basis.

The list shall include the significance of each parcel or entitlement, identify the reason for its priority, and its anticipated use after the acquisition.

To update this list at any time, but at least annually by December 31 of each year
2022 Suggestion Form is due on January 31, 2022, by 4:30 p.m. (new deadline)

PONC Public Folders
Pursuant to Act 220, Session Laws of Hawaii 2021, which amended the Sunshine Law to allow meetings to be remotely conducted online, effective January 1, 2022. The PONC Online Meetings can be viewed at the location listed below for the public to provide testimony on agenda items. Pursuant to the Governor’s Emergency Proclamation Related to Sunshine Law In-Person Meetings dated December 29, 2021, the requirement to have at least one in-person meeting location has been suspended through February 28, 2022. No in-person meeting location will be provided during this time period, unless the suspension is earlier terminated or superseded by a separate proclamation.
Oral Testimony: The public may provide oral testimony via Zoom. To register to testify, please contact Commission Secretary, Maxine Cutler at (808) 961-8069 or email at ponctestimony@hawaiicounty.gov no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Written Testimony: The Commission encourages the public to submit thoughts, comments, and input via written testimony. To ensure timely delivery to its members prior to the meeting testimonies must be submitted no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, January 7, 2022, by (1) email to ponctestimony@hawaiicounty.gov, (2) facsimile to (808) 961-8248; or (3) mail to the PONC Commission in Hilo at 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 1101, Hilo, Hawai‘i, 96720. Please submit separate testimony for each item.
