The Commission’s purpose:

To develop an initial island-wide prioritized list of qualifying lands worthy of preservation and submit it to the mayor.

Priorities shall be listed on an island-wide rather than district basis.

The list shall include the significance of each parcel or entitlement, identify the reason for its priority, and its anticipated use after the acquisition.

To update this list at any time, but at least annually by December 31 of each year

Public Testimony: Members of the public may provide oral testimony at the meeting on any of the agenda items, with discretion of the Chair, comments may be made either during the public comment portion of the agenda and may be limited to three (3) minutes in length per agenda item.
Written Testimony: The Commission encourages the public to submit thoughts, comments, and input via written testimony. To ensure timely delivery to its members prior to the meeting testimonies must be submitted no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 30, 2022, by (1) email to ponctestimony@hawaiicounty.gov, (2) facsimile to (808) 961-8248; or (3) mail to the PONC Commission in Hilo at 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 1101, Hilo, Hawai‘i, 96720. Please submit separate testimony for each item.
The 2023 Stewardship Grant Application and the Instruction Sheet is due on August 31, 2022, by 4:30 p.m.
The 2023 Suggestion Form is due on January 31, 2023, by 4:30 p.m. (new deadline)
