Coping with Impacts of the Eruption NOW, in 2019, is a talk story and discussion session hosted and funded by the Hawaiʻi Psychiatric Medical Association, a branch of the American Psychiatric Association. This is a free event and food will be provided.

Agenda:

  1. Introduction
    • Grant project funded by the American Psychiatric Association to reach out, learn with, and show aloha to Big Island eruption survivors

  2. Possible Reactions After a Natural Disaster
    • Talk and learn about possible reactions after natural disasters
    • What can help us cope?

  3. Discussion (sharing, Q&A)
    • How have you been coping one year after
    • What are some needs now? (e.g. I still struggle with...)
    • What has helped you/your family the most in the past year? What has not helped?
    • Have you been a part of any group or community that has helped you accept or cope with your situation?
    • How are your children doing at home and at school?

  4. Seeking Help: Resources, Wrap-up, Eat (food provided)
