Agriculture Advisory Commission: 

Purpose: To advise the Mayor on sustainable agriculture development strategies and programs that preserve Hawai' i County' s rural lifestyle and character and recognizes the economic and cultural contributions of the agriculture industry to the Hawai' i County' s economy. The Commission also provides advice on the implementation of the County' s Agriculture and Food System Plans, focusing on the establishment of policies of resources for agriculture infrastructure, marketing, research, extension, education and information dissemination, and advocacy for the growth of agriculture on Hawai' i Island. 

Authority: Hawai' i County Charter, Section 4- 4

Appointment: Mayor, no confirmation required. Members are co -terminus with the Mayor.

Full Membership: 13

Specific Representation: We are looking for commission members that can represent or have awareness of broad issues that are impacting Hawaii County' s diverse agricultural ecosystem and are committed to working towards Countywide solutions.

Requirements: None

Meetings: No specific requirement

Financial Disclosure: Not required

Reappointment: Per Mayor' s discretion

Qualities: Respected by the community as being community -minded and oriented. Able to focus on the community as a whole without catering to special or self-interest.
