Energy Advisory Commission
**Purpose:** To advise the Mayor on strategies, initiatives, and sustainable energy programs that preserve the County's leadership in renewable energy while promoting the economic health of Hawaii County. The Commission may also provide guidance on implementing the Energy Sustainability Program, focusing on policies related to energy sustainability in areas such as transportation, electricity generation, distributed generation, research and development, education and information dissemination, and advocacy for preferred energy plans for the island of Hawaii.
**Authority:** Hawaii County Charter, Section 4-4
**Appointment:** Appointed by the Mayor, with no confirmation required. Members serve co-terminus with the Mayor.
