Police Commission
Purpose: Appoints the Police Chief. Reviews the budget prepared by the Police Chief and may make recommendations to the Mayor and Managing Director. Receives, considers, and investigates charges brought by the public against the conduct of the police department or any of its members and submits a written report to the Police Chief. Advises the Police Chief on police-community relations.

Submitting Written Testimony: Written testimony may be submitted via email at Charisse.Correa@hawaiicounty.gov, by mail, or in person to the Police Commission' s office at
101 Pauahi Street, Suite 9, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
Written testimony must be received by 12: 00 noon, two business days before the meeting to ensure timely delivery to the Commission.
Oral Testimony: Testimony must be related to an item on the agenda. The Commission will hear public testimony at the beginning of the meeting or when the respective agenda item is called or as allowed at the sole discretion of the Chair. Testifiers will be limited to five (5) minutes, please plan accordingly
